Baseball Futures and Predictions

March 6, 2022

As the 2022 MLB Opening day is upon us I want to create a list of the preseason predictions and futures bets I will be making. First off, I will be continuing my yearly method of betting Road-Dogs that are +150 or greater all the way to the All-Star Break for 1-unit each. This method has been fairly successful over the years and I want to keep it going.

I like Juan Soto to win the HR title at 22-1 as a value bet. I feel if he can start the year hot he could easily be the league leader and 22-1 for someone who has the skill and power to hit 50 bombs is good value on my eyes.

Why is Trae Turner getting 12-1 to lead the league in hits? That seems a bit much to me so I am going to sprinkle some on this considering he won the hits title last year. Also he does not have to face the Dodgers Pitching and gets to play the Rockies a bunch.

The divisional winners I like this year are:

LA Dodgers in the West. They are clearly the best team and they got better with Freeman. The Giants played out-of-their-minds last year and lost their cornerstone to retirement. I don’t like to lay -220 on Division favorites, but this year it feels like a good deal.

LA Angels in the West. They are stacked offensively and have made some improvements in the starting pitching by adding Syndergaard. They are currently +400 in a division where the Astros look old and very beatable.

I also like the Angels over 83.5 wins considering the previous statement.

The two favorites to win Rookie of the Year (ROY) are Bobby Witt Jr who has been confirmed the opening day started at 3rd base for the Royals, and Julio Rodriguez of Seattle who has been confirmed on the opening day roster. I like Witt more than anyone else with short odds because we know he will be playing. As far as a long odds candidate lets look at Josh Lowe of the Tampa Rays who is currently 25-1, but is labeled on the depth chart a the starting right fielder for opening day. Considering Arozarena won it last year and has had success in the Show it may be the tool needed to make it Back-to-Back ROYs.
