Panini Baseball

Are the Panini baseball products the company’s best products this year. If you look at them strictly through the lens of enjoyment, hit rate, and cost I would argue the answer is yes. Prizm Football and Basketball have just come out and with 100% certainty I can say that it seems unenjoyable to open because you are immediately faced with the need to “hit a big one” or you may as well have just gone to the casino and played video poker. As I write this article a Scottie Barnes (Rookie of the Year) autograph sold for less than the cost of a Hobby Box. So you need to hit at least an auto of the ROY and something else to breakeven on a box, no thanks. Football is also in a similar situation with Mac Jones autos selling currently for about $900 much less than the cost of a box. Conversely, during the Panini baseball opening I was in for about $220 and I was able to close to even value out of that opening from the Oneil Cruz auto and Acuna’s Marvels card. With a much lower absolute rate.
